The short version: Sprout & Sow has no account and no server of ours. Your beds, plants, and journal stay on your device. It does send a plant name, photo, zip code, or address you enter to a few third-party lookup services — see exactly which below.
Information we collect
Nothing on our servers — we don't operate one for this app. Sprout & Sow does not ask for your name or email, has no login, and includes no analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking SDKs.
Sprout & Sow has no account. Your beds, plants, journal entries, and settings are stored on your device using Apple's on-device database (SwiftData) — there is no server of ours for any of it to go to.
The app does talk to a few third-party services to do its job, and only sends what's needed for that one request:
- Trefle (a plant database) — the plant name you search for, to look up its care details.
- PlantNet — the photo you choose, to identify the plant in it (Sprout & Sow Premium feature).
- phzmapi.org — the zip code you enter, to look up your USDA hardiness zone.
- Apple's geocoding service — the address you type in for the property map, to find its location. Sprout & Sow never asks for your device's current location.
None of these include your name, and there is no analytics or advertising SDK in the app.
Permissions
- Camera & Photo Library — so you can identify a plant from a photo, a Sprout & Sow Premium feature. The photo you choose is sent to PlantNet's identification service to get a match — it isn't stored anywhere by us or used for anything else.
Subscriptions
If you subscribe, Apple processes the payment and shares with us only whether your subscription is active. We never see or store your payment card details.
How information is shared
There is no data on our side to share, sell, or disclose — we don't operate a server for this app. It is sent to the third-party services listed above (Trefle, PlantNet, phzmapi.org, and Apple's geocoding service), only as needed to answer the specific request you made, and to no one else.
Children's privacy
Sprout & Sow is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes we'll update the date above. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
